We have all seen candles that have not burned correctly. Some common things that happen are tunneling (when the wax does not burn all the way to the sides of the container) and sooting (when the glass starts to blacken from the flame).
Here are some tips to help you get the most life out of your candle.
The Initial Burn
When lighting your candle for the first time, be sure to allow a consistent burn for 2-4 hours, or until you achieve a melt pool (liquefied wax on the top layer of a burning candle) from each side of the container
Caring for your cotton-wicked candle
Maintain a ¼ inch wick height on your candle. Which means that you may have to trim your wick to a reach a ¼ inch height. Wicks that are too long can cause an uneven burn
Candle Do’s & Don’ts
Always keep a burning candle within sight
Never burn a candle on or near anything that can catch fire
Keep burning candles out of the reach of children and pets
Trim candlewicks to ¼ inch each time before burning
Keep the wax pool free of wick trimmings, matches and debris at all times
Be sure the candle is on a stable, heat-resistant surface
